This state park is situated in the northern waters of the Strait of Juan de Fuca. Boaters and sailors alike consider Sucia a world-class destination, and it's not uncommon for the docks and bays around Sucia to be quite crowded in the summertime. But the island itself absorbs people quite well -- it's possible to explore the island and experience solitude if you venture out from the main landing areas. Wonder the beaches, have a picnic, take a hike and soak up the beauty of this little island gem.
A partnership between the National Park Service, local land owners and Roche Harbor Village has provided a well maintained system of trails to explore farther while visiting this beautiful area. Trails meander through the village, historical points of interest and gardens, fields and forests and connect to Roche Harbor Highlands, and English Camp for hikes to Bell Point or Westcott Bay trails.
